May 19, 2020

Dear Artists,
We previously emailed you in April to let you know that the Call to Artists for 2020 has been delayed due to the Covid -19 virus to June 1st, 2020.  We committed to make a final decision regarding the feasibility of holding the show in 2020 and communicate it to you before June 1st.

Like everyone, we have become increasingly concerned about the corona virus and the impact it is having on holding large public gatherings.  The Board of Directors of the Creative Arts League of Sacramento met by Zoom to discuss these issues and make a decision.

Some of the concerns brought up were:

  1. Experts predicting a possible surge in the virus this fall.
  2. Lack of a vaccine by fall.
  3. Many of our attendees, artists and volunteers are in the vulnerable groups.
  4. No feasible way to practice social distancing at this type of event.

Our discussion focused on the health and safety of all who would participate in this event.  Based on the concerns identified, we concluded it was not feasible to safely put on the show in 2020.  We communicated our decision to our co-sponsor, the Crocker Art Museum and they concurred with our recommendation.

We are postponing the 15th annual Crocker Holiday Artisan Market to Thanksgiving weekend, November 26, 27 and 28th, 2021 at Scottish Rite Center.  We are busy planning our big, splashy return in 2021 when these crazy times are behind us.

Also, we have been brainstorming ways to help artists during this difficult economic time.  We are continuing with our social media and are having our website designer put up a directory of 2019 artists with a picture of their work and a link to their websites.  We will send out email blasts to prior attendees encouraging them to support artists by visiting their websites and purchasing.

Hope you are staying safe and healthy and we look forward to being back Thanksgiving 2021!
